Usually I try to avoid Real Canadian Superstore, it's over crowded, poorly laid out, and generally more of a head ache than it's worth. But I NEEDED to try out the new Joe Fresh Makeup. So I took a deep breath and went in!
Man am I glad I did! This is makeup is such a good deal! I picked up two eye shadows for $4 each, a blush for $6 and an eye brow powder duo for $6! Along with the Maybelline gel eyeliner, in black (I can never find black!) These products are all comparable to a high end brand version as well.
Joe Fresh Eye Shadows - $4 @ Real Canadian Superstore/Loblaws

Satin
Joe Fresh Blush - $6 @ Real Canadian Superstore/Loblaws
Hydrangea
Joe Fresh Brow Powder - $6 @ Real Canadian Superstore/Loblaws
Blonde
Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeliner - $10.99 @ Drugstores

I found the colours I got were very similar but with slight differences, so here's what I would consider them to be dupes of.
Pebble Eyeshadow is light a lighter version of MAC Satin Taupe; in fact, I'm wearing both of them today, with Satin Taupe in the crease to add depth, they blend very nicely into each other.
Silk is very close to MAC Vanilla, being very light and a great highlight. Excuse my low Vanilla, I use it every day.
As you can see the Joe shadows are slightly larger than the MAC shadows. MAC shadows are 1.5g, and Joe are 3.3g. The colour pay off isn't as strong on Joe, but very comparable to standard drugstore eyeshadows.
I found the Hydrangea blush very close to MAC Dusty Rose & NARS Deep Throat. The pictures don't do it justice, but when the blushes are applied they are very close.
It's a matte blush, NARS has more of a shimmer.
MAC Blushes weigh 6g, NARS are 4.8g (I was a little shocked, but when the colour pay off is as good as NARS they'll last just as long as any 6g blush), and Joe are 7g.
The Maybelline Liner is a gel liner, so I compared it to MAC Fluidline. Here I have it next to dip down (If you saw my Collection/Organization videos you'll see I B2M my Blacktrack Fluidline, since it dried out).
The colour pay off is very comparable to MAC but the Fluidline liners are much smoother, the Maybelline is easy to work with, and it's so fantastic it comes with a brush (Very similar to the brush in the Kat Von D palettes by Sephora).
The Joe Brow powder is very comparable to the Anastasia Brow Powder, I would have done a side by side comparison, but I'm just scraping the bottom of my Ash Blonde Powder and there isn't much left to compare with. The Joe brand is a little more reddish, which is very common in blonde shades of brow powders and pencils. Which is a big reason I love the Anastasia stuff so much, it's very true blonde, no red tones to it. But $6 vs $22, who can argue about a little red.
Swatch time!
All products were purchased by me. All opinions are mine, and mine alone, with no outside influence.
I really like the Joe liquid eyeliner, the end is really thin which is what I always look for. I find most felt tip end liners are too thick and I mess up easily, so it's great.
ReplyDeleteI also really like their lip stains, I find they last longer on my than the Cover Girl ones. I just wish they had a bit more variety in color. I've tried their tinted lip balms and find they're nice and smooth with a nice bit of color (I like Pomegranate Grenade).
