Mirror-less Make Up Challenge
There's a tag going on around that challenges you to put your make up on without a mirror, so I thought I'd give it a go. Here's my attempt!

Product Review - L'Oreal go 360 Clean - Deep Exfoliating Scrub
I'm always on the look out for inexpensive, an effective skin care. As much as I'd love to load up my bathroom with expensive creams, scrubs and washes, hit the spa every month for micro-dermabrasion and chemical peels to prevent the signs of aging, I just can't. I don't think that many people these days really can. Between life, and budget I'm going to have to improvise.
I picked up this gem for about $8 at Shoppers Drug Mart. I had a coupon a while back that expired, and I wish I had used it back then (from save.ca).
They say
Now I have oily skin and I don't expect some miracle product to make my pores look smaller. That's the catch though. They say "visibly smaller". When your pores are clean, they're harder to see, therefore visibly smaller. This works for me. Pores are my skin, I can't change the size and shape of them.
This scrub is unique to me because it comes with a "scrublet", as they call it. It's a rubbery scrubbing tool, with soft bristles. The wash itself also has a grit to it, with what I'm sure they would call micro beads or something similar.
This is what's called a mechanical exfoliant. Where physical beads or a tool are used to remove the dead skin. As opposed to a chemical exfoliant, containing ingredients such as AHA and BHA which chemically break down the dead skin to remove it. I like both types, but I tend to gravitate towards a mechanical exfoliant, I feel like it's actually doing more, when really they both do the same thing. It's suggested as we age to go for a chemical exfoliant, as your skin can loose elasticity as you age, and pulling and tugging on your skin can cause more damage.
This product has your typical L'Oreal scent. I don't know what they put in all their face scrubs and shampoos but they all smell the same to me. It's not unpleasant, but it's not fruity or anything like that. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scrublet. It fits into the bottle and is really easy to hold onto with wet hands. It has a little suction cup on the back so if you wanted to stick it to the mirror or somewhere else it would stay. I like to stick it to the side of the sink while I rinse my face, then I know it isn't running away on me, and won't fall onto the floor, or worse, behind the toilet!
They make a variety of this product, with different cleansing properties. I think I will be picking up more in the future. The price fits and I feel like my skin is getting really clean. Be sure to moisturize after using this sucker, it really leaves your skin open and ready for creams, lotions and serums!

Happy Canada Day!
July 1st marked Canada's 145th Birthday. We went downtown for dinner and to check out the events going on, there's always lots going on downtown on Canada Day.
I did my make up in a Canadian Style in honor of my great country's day.
We went to Red Robin and people watched from the Patio, one of our favorite things to do downtown. Ha-ha!

Fun fact: red is the HARDEST colour to blend, ever!!

I went for a mediterranean chicken burger, mostly sticking to my healthy eating plan. Who can resist a couple Red Robin fries!
We went way off track after that and got cupcakes. *blush* I guess I'll be working twice as hard at the gym tomorrow. ;)

Dramatic Colour "EOTD"
I was playing around with make up one night last week and came up with this. I tried to film it, but I'm not sure the quality is up to snuff for me. It's a little drag queen-ish/showgirl-y. I thought I'd share it anyway, since I really love the way the lips came out!
I used so many things I won't even start to name them all.

Nail Trend - Aquairum Nails
I'm always looking at new nail trends, and was shocked at this style.
Aquarium Nails
They're like those pens you had when you were a kid, that were full of water and glitter or something similar. The glitter moved around while you wrote.
In the tip is glitter and a watery liquid that the glitters or other small objects are suspended from. Looking into this trend I found you can buy kits with the nails already hollow, or you can build them yourself.
At first I was like "why the hell would anyone want that", then after awhile I kind of wanted them myself.
What do you think? Would you try aquarium nails? Do you think they're fun? Trashy? Cool? Let me know!
Personally all I can think of is the scene in the Simpsons where Homer finds the naked lady pens and race them all (damn you YouTube, why don't you have a clip of that?!)

In honor of the JDRF Walk for a Cure on Sunday, I rocked a baby blue eye look. JDRF uses blue as a key colour in their logo, and I wanted to pay homage.

Nails 101
This Sunday I spent some time removing my acrylic nails. I put them on a few weeks ago, and I'm too lazy to do a fill, so I just took them off.
I used the soak off method then finished up with a mini-manicure. Here's a couple videos showing what I did. This videos are older, but it's what I did this time around.
After I removed my nails I covered them up with Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet Nail Polish

Blackest of Black
I'm always on the quest for the best eyeliner, and I had the chance to pick up the famous Urban Decay 24/7 Perversion Waterproof eyeliner. I have zero, and it's been a steady favorite for a few years now but it's no where as near black as Perversion.
In my rotation as well is MAC Smoulder, it's a great pencil to smudge out. Lets take a look at how dark it is.
They're all pretty dark, but I have to say that Perversion is the darkest I have now. My next eyeliner to hunt down is MAC Feline. That's also rumored to be the darkest black eyeliner.

My Saturday - Outfit and mini-haul
My week has been so crazy I got all turned around and forgot that yesterday was Friday! My Saturday has been very eventful though.
I went to work for a couple hours and after hit up the mall next door. Ardene's had a sale on accessories and I went a little flower clip crazy! I love flower clips. They turn a simple bun or ponytail into a little something special. Here's my new collection. One of every colour!
Then we hit up the gym and I put on my Vancouver uniform of Lululemon.
I have on my MC College t-shirt
Lululemon Run: Inspire Crop II pants, they're made of compression material and have the best little pockets that fit my iPod perfectly
over top I have my Lululemon jacket that they don't make anymore, and I have no idea what it's called... oops. It's similar to the Define Jacket, but came before the thumbholes were in every single jacket. I think I got it when everything was still made in Canada, it's in rocking condition for being about 8 years old. I fit it much better now ;)
I have my puma Soliel shoes on, yeah not the best for the gym, but they'll have to do until I can get some good running shoes.
How did you spend your Saturday?

Products I'm Loving Right Now!
So this was going to be a video, but I can't seem to find batteries right now. So here's just a couple beauty products I'm loving right now!!
1. Schick Intuition Razor
img from google
This razor comes with a water soluble solid shaving cream (? I guess?). It wears down really fast, but it makes it super easy shave!! This has made it way easier to shave my legs, I hate doing it, and I cut myself A LOT. This razor has guards on the blades so if it slips, I don't cut myself.
2. Quo by ORLY - Strong Bond Base Coat
I've been looking for a base coat that works as well as ORLY Bonder, but easier to find. This is the best I've found so far. It's a sticky base coat, so it doesn't really dry. It holds the polish colour on really well, and helps prevent chipping. I had a manicure on for about 5 days before it chipped.
3. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream
img from google
I have oily/combo skin and have a hard time finding a good moisturizer. This by far is the very best I've tried yet. It's a gel cream (hence the name), and it absorbs very quickly, without leaving any sort of oily residue. I can apply my foundation on right after, no problems.

No Heat Crimped Hair
Here's a wet set I tried out over the weekend. I started with towel dry/damp hair. I added my conditioners, AG Fast Food and Argon Oil
I then separated my hair similar to the way I flat iron it. 4 sections horizontally, and 3-4 sections vertically. I added Beyond The Zone Pomade to each section, and braided tightly. Securing with tiny bands.
Then I put a silky scarf over my head and went to bed. When I woke up and finger combed my hair I got this!
For thinner hair, you can use a thickening mouse, and less braids. I made sure the braids got as close to my head as possible to avoid any awkward kinks or straight roots.
Let me know if you try this out!
